We Want to Hear from YOU!

Feeling down about missing the annual Motif No. 1 Day Fest?

Well, take heart, as you can still celebrate our iconic Motif on Motif No. 1 Day on May 16th, right in the comfort and safety of your own house!

What’s even better, YOU are going to help make this celebration happen!

Makers, creators, dabblers, doers, and dreamers — this is your moment. Send in your Cape Ann and Rockport-inspired work (even better if it features our favorite red fishing shack). Prose, poetry, film, drawings, paintings, sculptures, finger-painting — we want to see Cape Ann and the Motif through your eyes!

In the days leading up to Motif No.1 Day on May 16th (and on the day itself!) we’ll post a picture or video featuring your work ,or a piece from our M1D Fest archives celebrating the amazing place we live and the fishing shack that has become a symbol of all things Rockport.

Get Motif-vated!

Send in your submission to rockportexchange01966@gmail.com and stay tuned for our Virtual M1D Fest showcase. Be sure to check us out on Facebook and Instagram to follow along as we post M1D Fest featured work!

What Else is Happening?

2020 Motif No. 1 Day Commemorative Poster. Our annual commemorative poster featuring a rendition of the motif is a tradition we can’t do without. We’ll unveil the poster design in the days leading up to M1D on May 16th.

Raise a Glass to Rockport.  Get ready to make a Motif-inspired drink, prep a Motif-inspired menu, and enjoy the M1D After Party. We’ll be sharing drink and menu ideas that will make celebrating at home feel like we are celebrating, together. And, true to form, our M1D After Party kicks off at 6pm (because this is Rockport after all, and 9pm is our bedtime).

Stay in touch to discover the ways we plan to celebrate Motif No. 1 Day on May 16th!

Need a little inspiration to get started? Download this original Motif coloring page, enjoy a relaxing time of coloring,  and send in a photo of your work! We’re grateful for the generosity of the artist, Cynthia Bugden, who donated the artwork for the coloring page. Read on to learn more:

Cynthia Bugden, along with her sisters, Patsy & Betsy, create the art and layout for beautiful coloring and painting pages. The sisters are North Shore natives and residents. Cynthia started “Arts of Gold” as a part-time business, painting with seniors locally in nursing homes and assisted living facilities back in 2008. You can see more of her work at www.etsy.com/artsofgoldpaintpages or at facebook.com/artsofgold. Thank you, Cynthia, for sharing your classic homage to the wonderful Motif #1!
